A state trooper checking out an abandoned school bus in Laredo Texas, discovered five tons (9,210 pounds) of marijuana stashed inside. Texas Department of Public Safety estimates the find to be worth $3.9 million and suspect the bus probably ran into engine problems on the highway.
The bus is described by police as “cloned” — meaning it was made to appear like a legitimate school district bus. The bus even carried a Laredo-area school district’s name and police suspect it was most likely picked up at an auction. Using “cloned” vehicles is becoming a common trend among marijuana distributers to transport large amounts. In December, police in Arizona uncovered 2,118 pounds of marijuana in a cloned UPS truck.
